Kaiser Permanente Workers Deserve a Hero Bonus that Recognizes Our Commitment, Retains Experienced Staff and Ensures Safe Patient Care Through the Pandemic
An Open Letter to Kaiser Permanente from Frontline Members of the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions.
Dear Local 30 Member,
Once again, the members of our Scholarship Committee have worked very hard to bring our members this wonderful benefit. If you, or a member of your immediate family is currently attending College or will be this fall or have loans from a recognized student loan provider or debtor organization, and are current in their student loan payments, then this Union benefit is just in time.
Enclosed please find the scholarship application forms, a copy of the rules, and other information about this program. You are welcome to send in one application for each eligible family member. Acceptance letter or school registration information, or documentation that student loan payments are up to date must be attached to the application and submitted to the Local 30 office by September 30, 2020, to be eligible for the Scholarship drawing. Incomplete applications may be excluded. Please be sure to apply as soon as possible. We will draw the winners at our October General Membership meeting.
This is yet another benefit designed for Local 30 members and their families.
As always, thank you for your support of your Union!
Dear Local 30 member,
Our General Membership meeting on July 23rd will be held as scheduled. Out of an abundance of caution, members who plan to attend any of the meetings in person will be required to wear face coverings, (masks will be provided), and we will practice strict social distancing at all locations. Given that some of our regions are again enforcing shutdowns, we are now offering members the option of joining the meetings remotely by Zoom if they would prefer not to attend in person.
If you should choose to attend by Zoom, please send an email to info@opeiulocal30.org for a link to register.
Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU), AFL-CIO, President Richard Lanigan on the Supreme Court decisions for Bostock v. Clayton County, Georgia, and R.G. & G. R. Harris Funeral Homes Inc. v. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
OPEIU applauds yesterday's Supreme Court decisions, which solidified long-sought workplace protections for our LGBTQIA+ siblings.
This is a monumental victory for our LGBTQIA+ family. No one's livelihood should be taken away by a discriminatory employer just because of who one loves, or how one identifies.
All working people deserve justice in the workplace, so we are pleased by the Supreme Court's decision to extend essential rights to a group of people whose rights have unjustly hung in the balance for far too long.
