CONTRACT RATIFICATION MEETING SCHEDULE

MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT. We don't get an agreement until we vote on it and ratify it!

We have reached tentative National and Local Agreements with Kaiser Permanente including the California Service Center. The terms of these agreements will be presented to our membership for a ratification vote. All members in good standing in OPEIU, Local 30 are entitled and encouraged to participate in the ratification process.

At these meetings the contract offer will be presented and explained, there will be discussion on the terms, and finally members will be asked to vote to accept or reject the offer. All Local 30 members should plan to attend a ratification meeting and make their vote count. Voting will be allowed at any time during the meetings for members who wish to cast a vote and leave. For those members with questions or comments, the meetings scheduled will allow time for both.

4,200 Kaiser Permanente Workers in San Diego Vote to Join Nationwide Strike

SAN DIEGO – More than 4,200 healthcare workers at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego will be joining a nationwide strike beginning Oct. 14, after recently voting to authorize a strike against the healthcare giant. It would be the nation’s largest strike in more than two decades – affecting more than 80,000 workers in six states and the District of Columbia.

“We believe the only way to ensure our patients get the best care is to take this step,” said Robert Sparrow, an x-ray technician at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego. “Our goal is to get Kaiser to stop committing unfair labor practices and get back on track as the best place to work and get care. There is no reason for Kaiser to let a strike happen when it has the resources to invest in patients, communities and workers.”

STRIKE SET FOR OCT. 14

For the first time in the history of our Labor Management Partnership, we are headed for a strike at Kaiser Permanente.

Corporate healthcare is failing patients and workers — and Kaiser showed why they’re the prime example of this failure in our September 16 bargaining session, which ended without an agreement. Fourteen days before the expiration of our contract, Kaiser demonstrated it is not serious about avoiding an unfair labor practices strike. Kaiser continued to demean and disrespect us, our patients, and our families by demanding massive cuts to our jobs, raises, and benefits.

More Than 80,000 Kaiser Permanente Workers to Strike Nationwide Beginning Oct. 14

OAKLAND, Calif. – More than 80,000 Kaiser Permanente workers in six states and the District of Columbia will begin a nationwide, seven-day unfair labor practices strike Oct. 14. The strike will be the largest since the Teamsters strike against United Parcel Service more than two decades ago.

“We believe the only way to ensure our patients get the best care is to take this step,” said Eric Jines, a radiologic technologist at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles. “Our goal is to get Kaiser to stop committing unfair labor practices and get back on track as the best place to work and get care. There is no reason for Kaiser to let a strike happen when it has the resources to invest in patients, communities and workers.”

Don’t Sign It! Fair Pay For Hard Work!

Today, the San Diego City Council overrode Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s veto and OFFICIALLY PASSED THE EARNED SICK DAYS AND MINIMUM WAGE ORDINANCE! Their override means that the Earned Sick Leave-Minimum Wage is once again in place to help hardworking San Diegans who struggle to pay the rent and buy groceries.

However, our fight continues, opponents representing a small handful of special interests have announced that they are prepared to spend what it takes to repeal the law. They will be in front of grocery stores and other areas in the city attempting to collect 34,000 signatures to repeal the law.

To push back against this brazen attack against hard working San Diegans we need your help! Council President Todd Gloria, Irwin Jacobs, Mel Katz, Bill Walton and Barbara Bry kicked off the citywide campaign, simply called “Don’t Sign It,” to defeat the referendum against the ordinance.

Today, City Council stood up for 280,000 San Diegans who lack sick leave and nearly 200,000 low-wage workers who work hard every day and can’t afford rent and groceries, now its time to do our part.

Here's what you can do
:

  1. Take the pledge not to sign the anti-sick days anti-minimum wage petitions.
  2. Inform as many people as possible that the earned sick days and minimum wage policy HAS PASSED, and that any signature gathering effort is an attempt to TAKE IT AWAY!! Tell your friends: DON’T SIGN IT!
  3. If you see a signature gatherer, call or text the following hotline: (619) 930 – 3300.
  4. Volunteer.
