Keeping our promise as your Coalition union leaders, we recently met again with Kaiser Permanente management on the progress of the financial performance of the Southern California region and what that means for your Performance Sharing Program (PSP) bonus.

 

You’ll soon be getting reports on how we are doing. The company has had a couple of good months, and teams are working hard on many of our goals. Our success depends on everyone pitching in and stepping up. Please continue to do your best, and help others do the same.

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2016 OPEIU Local 30 Scholarship Fund Awards.  Each award is in the amount of $1,500.00.

You may have seen a recent financial report from the Southern California region, which gave you details on the company’s financial performance and made a reference to the Performance Sharing Program (PSP). You should know that the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions envisions a different approach to the financial metrics that are to be mutually agreed upon under the National Agreement.

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Services has been soliciting Kaiser Permanente employees to utilize their programs for their retirement investments. We are concerned that they are advising employees about retirement decisions that could impact their eligibility for retiree health coverage without sound knowledge of the Kaiser Permanente plans. Kaiser Permanente does not endorse these events in any way.

In fact, we are advising all employees to use caution when responding to these solicitations from Morgan Stanley. We have actively discouraged Morgan Stanley from discussing our benefit plans of which they have no knowledge, but Morgan Stanley has not been responsive to our requests.

I am very pleased to be sending you this Local 30 Scholarship Fund application.  Once again, the members of our Scholarship Committee have worked very hard to bring our members this wonderful benefit.  If you, or a member of your immediate family is currently attending College, or will be this fall then this Union benefit is just in time.

 

Enclosed please find the scholarship application form, a copy of the rules, and other information about this program.  You are welcome to send in one application for each eligible family member.  Acceptance letter or school registration information must be attached to the application and submitted to the Local 30 office by September 30, 2016, to be eligible for the Scholarship drawing.  Please be sure to apply as soon as possible.  We will draw the winners at our October General Membership meetings.

 

With the cost of higher education at an all time high, any financial assistance will help.  This is yet another benefit designed for Local 30 members and their families.
