Make Your Voice Heard, Make It Count, Come To One Of These Locations This Week And Cast Your Vote To Strike

In August we came to you and asked if you were ready to strike. You overwhelmingly told us yes. We hoped that would be enough to convince Kaiser to bargain with us in good faith, but after their divisive and inadequate economics proposal, it's clear we need to take the next step.

Now we need you to speak up again and vote to authorize a strike. And while last time Kaiser let us come to you, this time they are making you come to us. To make your voice heard, to make it count, you must come to one of these locations this week and cast your vote to strike.

UPDATED KP Strike Vote Schedule

Kaiser Makes Divisive, Sorely Inadequate Raise Proposal

September 7, 2023

Despite making $3 billion in profits in just the first six months of this year, Kaiser’s millionaire executives are trying to divide frontline workers instead of working with us to solve the crisis in patient care by providing raises that keep up with the cost of living for ALL of our members.

Kaiser’s Offensive Proposal:

    • Northern CA/KPWA: Annual raises of 4%, 4%, 3%, 3%
    • NW/CO/MAS/HI: Annual raises of 3%, 3%, 3%, 2%
    • Southern CA: Annual raises of 3%, 3%, 2% (plus 2% lump sum payment), 2% (plus 2% lump sum payment)

None of these proposed raises are acceptable. They wouldn’t even come close to helping us keep up with the skyrocketing cost of living.

Kaiser Strike FAQ

While Kaiser Permanente’s millionaire executives continue to insist frontline workers are overpaid, the company:

  • Has brought in more than $3 billion in profits in the first six months of 2023.
  • Gave its managers bonuses while denying the PSP bonus to frontline workers.
  • Is refusing to deal with understaffing and the crisis in patient care in our facilities.

It is becoming increasingly clear that going on strike may be the only way to address Kaiser’s unfair labor practices and secure a strong contract with the pay and benefits needed to retain world-class workers and attract new workers to ensure quality patient care. Be sure you’re ready for the possibility of a strike by understanding the facts and our rights.

Largest Single-Employer Union Negotiation In The U.S. Inches Closer To Strike

On Saturday 85,000 Kaiser Permanente healthcare workers will kick-off a strike authorization vote over unfair labor practices

Healthcare workers say chronic under-staffing is driving a growing patient care crisis

LOS ANGELES, CA – A strike may be looming at one of the nation’s largest employers.

Healthcare workers at Kaiser Permanente announced on Thursday that they’ll hold a strike authorization vote over the corporation’s unfair labor practices if a settlement isn’t reached by Saturday, August 26. Following the UPS labor settlement with the Teamsters, the labor negotiations covering 85,000 Kaiser healthcare workers – represented by the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions – have now become the largest single-employer labor negotiations occurring in the United States.

At issue, healthcare workers say, are a series of unfair labor practices related to bargaining in bad faith, along with simmering staff concerns related to unsafe staffing levels that can lead to dangerously long wait times, mistaken diagnosis, and neglect. After years of the COVID pandemic and chronic understaffing, Kaiser healthcare workers are calling on management to provide safe staffing levels.
