Kaiser Permanente Continues Its Aggressive Behavior Toward All Unions

Kaiser continues to demand a new Partnership Agreement and is requiring Coalition Unions to sign a new Partnership agreement as a condition of resuming negotiations of a new National Agreement. This “new” Partnership Agreement is completely one-sided. It demands unions and union members waive significant rights, and it gives management the right to vote on expelling unions.

We have met three times with Kaiser leaders over the last few months to reach an agreement. The Coalition has offered a counter proposal that was balanced—offering new rights and responsibilities within the Partnership for both our unions and Kaiser. We also have offered a ‘temporary cease fire’ that would get us back to the table for negotiations while addressing Kaiser’s concerns. Both of these offers have been rejected by Kaiser.

National Day of Action May 30 - Kaiser: Respect Our Partnership!

On May 30, we’re standing together across the country to say,
Kaiser: Respect Our Partnership!

It’s up to us — the 85,000 members of the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions — to save our Partnership with Kaiser.

Kaiser and its executives are making record earnings, with $28 billion in reserves, a 22% increase in profits last year, and dozens of executives making salaries of
over one million dollars.

But when it comes to frontline healthcare workers, Kaiser is outsourcing hundreds of our jobs, attacking our pay and benefits, refusing to bargain with us, and trying to silence our voices.

And now Kaiser is trying to walk away from the Partnership that has guaranteed quality patient care and good jobs for over 20 years. We will not let Kaiser force us back to the years of ugly labor wars and substandard patient care and jobs.

On May 30, join with 85,000 other members of the Coalition as we raise our voices to tell Kaiser:
PARTNERSHIP TAKES TWO!

Neil Gorsuch Just Demolished Labor Rights

His decision, a frontal attack on the New Deal, effectively legalizes wage theft.

The Supreme Court issued a 5–4 decision Monday in Epic Systems v. Lewis allowing employers to deprive their workers of their right to sue collectively. Its ruling, written by Justice Neil Gorsuch, blasts a massive hole through post–New Deal labor law, hobbling employees’ ability to recover in court when their employers underpay them. It is difficult to overstate how devastating Epic Systems is to labor rights in America—and how far Gorsuch strays from federal law in order to implement his preferred economic policy.
